    26 Great Restraint

The Statement of the first hexagram

      Gain by being upright.
Not eating at home brings fortune.
Advance across the great river.

    The changing lines

    The first line:
    There is harsh danger.
Gain ends.

    The third line:
A good horse chases, but gain is difficult.
Be upright. Prepare the chariots daily
and be on guard.
Gain by having a place to go.

    4 Youth

The Statement of the second hexagram

   A youth must be steadfast.
I do not seek the naive youth.
The naive youth seeks me.
At the first divination, I explain,
but after three times, it is irritating.
Annoyed, I explain no further.
Nevertheless, a gainful omen.

The Image of the first hexagram

Heaven in the center of a
mountain: great restraint.
The noble one
frequently studies
the words and prophesies
of the past, and thereby
nourishes virtue.

The Image of the second hexagram

    A spring gushes
below a mountain:
the naive youth.
The noble one nourishes virtue
with determination.
