52 Stilling

The Statement of the first hexagram

One stills one's back
and does not move one's body.
There is movement in one's courtyard,
but one does not see one's people.
No fault.

The changing lines

The first line:
Stilling one's feet. No fault.
Gain through everlasting virtue.
The second line:
Stilling one's calves.
One cannot raise one's followers.
One's heart is unhappy.
The fifth line:
Stilling his jaws.
Speech is orderly.
Regrets vanish.

9 Smallness Tames

The Statement of the second hexagram

Smallness tames. Persevere.
Dense clouds, no rain
at my western border.

The Image of the first hexagram

Doubled mountains:
stillness.
The noble one
does not consider matters
beyond his position.

The Image of the second hexagram

Wind moving high
in heaven: smallness tames.
The noble one acts
with restraint, culture,
and morals.
