    62 Small Crossing

The Statement of the first hexagram

Small crossing. Continue for gainful purity.
Small matters can be done,
but not large matters.
Flying birds leave their sound:
it is unsuitable to go high-
the suitable is below.
Great fortune.

    The changing lines

    The first line:
    Birds fly from famine.

    The second line:
    Crossing to one's ancestors,
meeting one's dead mother.
Not reaching as far as one's king:
meeting his minister. No fault.

    34 Great Vigor

The Statement of the second hexagram

   Great vigor, gainful purity.

The Image of the first hexagram

    Thunder above the
mountain: small crossing.
The noble one acts with
more than enough
reverence, destroys
excessive grief, and uses
more than enough
economy.

The Image of the second hexagram

    Thunder in heaven above:
great vigor. The noble one
is never without reverence
and does not fail
in conduct.
